Written by Amber Kotecki: Hi everyone! My name is Amber, and I am the Assistant Manager for Garbo A Salon! My hair journey with Aveda started about 16 years ago when my mom took me to my first Aveda salon in Chicago to get my hair chopped from my mid back to just above my collar bone. Although I was 9 years old and cried (RIP to the long hair I’d had in my then 9yrs of life), I had an amazing experience. I remember the staff members being super nice and inviting, and talked to me during the process. Fast forward to present day, I have found the same excellent service that I’ve seen at other Aveda salons between Chicago and Austin holding up to standard at Garbo A Salon & Spa. After a series of events landed me in Austin in April, I was grateful to find Garbo and have an opportunity to work alongside some fantastic people! The members of the Garbo community have helped make my transition from the Midwest to the South so amazing. Not only have I gained more knowledge about how to treat my hair, but I’ve also gained more knowledge of restaurants to eat at, cool spots to check out, and of course where the best shopping is!
