Written by Alex Perez; Garbo's Social Media Manager: In today’s age, social media has quickly become an important tool to have when looking for clients or finding a place of work. It is now easier than ever to type in a simple “Austin salon” and find hundreds of excellent hairstylists in the area. Utilizing that to your advantage is almost necessary these days to achieve a successful business as a stylist. But don’t look at it as a daunting task, it can be fun and inspiring! As the Social Media Manager at Garbo A Salon, I am here to walk you through setting up your social media accounts. What social platform do I focus on? Instagram! Instagram is the most visual social platform and great for stylists to be able to showcase a very visual service. With features like reels, and the endless options in stories it's super easy to make your before and after photos really pop! Instagram has also become a visual blog in some cases, in the sense that you can be vulnerable and very personal with your following. This opens up the option to be more open about your craft and the ability to base content off of that, such as behind-the-scenes videos, or funny videos about the life of a hairstylist. Instagram is the perfect place for a stylist to not only showcase their work but also build up a following that will translate to the chair. :) Thanks for reading and stay tuned as I answer more of your burning questions about social media!
