Aveda Color at Garbo: Plant-Powered Hair Color Built to Last

Categories: Aveda, Hair Color

When guests ask why we color with Aveda, the short answer is that the color looks great and we like what goes into it. At Garbo Salon & Spa, our colorists at both Austin locations use Aveda hair color for everything from gray blending to full balayage. Here’s what makes it different and what to expect when you sit in our chair.

What Makes Aveda Hair Color Different

Aveda Full Spectrum hair color is built on a system of pure tones that your colorist mixes by hand for your hair. There’s no pulling a pre-made shade off a shelf.

  • Naturally derived formulas: Aveda Full Spectrum permanent color is made with up to 96% naturally derived ingredients.
  • Custom blending: Your colorist mixes pure tones to match your skin tone, eye color and the shade you have in mind.
  • Gray coverage options: Full Spectrum Deep is formulated for stubborn grays, and Demi+ gives a softer, glossy result.
  • Rich, even results: Color goes on evenly and fades gradually, so there’s no harsh line when your roots come in.

It Starts With a Lifestyle Consultation

Every color service at Garbo starts with a conversation. Your stylist looks at your current color, your hair’s condition and how much time you want to spend on upkeep. Lifestyle Consultations are complimentary, and if you’re new to coloring at Garbo, we recommend booking one first so we can reserve the right amount of time for your appointment.

Aveda Color Services at Garbo

Both our Northcross and South Shore locations offer the full Aveda color menu:

  • Express Grey Blending: A quick service for short hair that softens gray without full coverage.
  • Color Retouch: Roots-only color to cover regrowth between full services.
  • Solid Single Color: One shade applied from roots to ends.
  • Highlights: Accent, partial and full foil highlights for brightness and dimension.
  • Balayage: Hand-painted lightening for a soft, lived-in grow-out.
  • Toner Refresh: A stand-alone gloss to revive faded or brassy color, finished with a blowdry.
  • Color Correction: For fixing uneven or unwanted color. A consultation and a 50% deposit are required when booking.

You can view current pricing on the Northcross color menu and the South Shore color menu.

Add a Treatment to Your Color

Each of these can be added to a color appointment:

  • Botanical Repair Treatment: An Aveda strengthening treatment that uses plant-derived ingredients to repair damage inside the hair strand. Great after lightening.
  • Nutriplenish Treatment: A deep-moisture treatment for dry or coarse hair.
  • Scalp Solutions Treatment: A scalp-focused treatment that cleanses buildup and rebalances the scalp.

Keep Your Color Bright at Home

  • Wash with Aveda Color Conserve: The sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner help reduce color washout, and they come in Light and Rich versions for different hair textures.
  • Rinse in cooler water: Hot water opens the cuticle and lets color fade faster.
  • Book a toner between visits: A gloss every few weeks keeps blondes from turning brassy.
